Garden Time

Week 16 of the 2014 challenge ran from the 13/4/14 till the 20/4/14.

The theme was Garden Time.

School holidays for most meant a simple theme for us. However, it did not necessarily means gardens as for some of us, myself included, do not have access to a garden. But as long as it fitted with a garden theme, for example, parks, flowers, landscapes and so on, then it was ok. I have to admit I think I pushed it with a couple as they were the only shots I had time to get as I was busy both those days, though I think my first shot was being quite clever!

By the Light

Week 15 of the 2014 challenge ran from 6/4/14 till the 12/4/14.

The theme was By the Light.

The theme was about producing shots lit by torch light or lamp if you did not have a torch. I decided to go for a low key shot, as most of the examples I could find were just that. The first couple of days did not go well, as I have now figured out was due mainly to the settings on my camera more than anything. However, I went out and brought a torch and some black card, figured out the settings I needed and finally on day 3, I got the shot right. Quite pleased with the shots I got once I figured out the manual settings and it is definitely something I hope to use more of in the future, similar to that of High Key.

Framing

Week 14 of the 2014 challenge ran from 30/3/14 till the 5/4/14.

The theme was Framing.

This week's theme was about framing the subject of the shot, not through editing but through using the surroundings or other objects. This is something I like to do already as it gives the shot a completely different perspective and it was something I used in the shot that gained a Highly Commended in the Wiki Loves Monuments UK competition last year.

Rainbow

Week 13 of the 2014 challenge ran from the 23/3/14 till the 29/3/14.

The theme was Rainbow.

Each photo had to represent one colour of the rainbow, one colour per day. Have to admit it was definitely not easy to accomplish especially when finding items that were indigo and violet and making sure they were roughly the shade given on the colour chart posted for us.

Week 12 of the 2014 challenge ran from the 16/3/14 till the 22/3/14.

The theme was Sh.

Words beginning with Sh was the idea, but specifically verbs. Not really all that easy to do, but I did my best and also incorporated my new technique of High Key Photography (which I am now obsessed with).
